A durable and reusable litter picking bag, custom fit to pair with our recycled Bag Hoops or to fold into your backpack for use on it's own during impromptu beach cleans! Handmade in Cornwall, from end-of-life spinnaker sail cloth, created in collaboration with Ocean Republic.

Sails are made from incredibly strong and durable plastics, but are replaced over time to ensure reliability.

No facilities exist for recycling, with an estimated 97% ending up in landfill.

Partnering with Ocean Republic, we are upcycling this high quality plastic by transforming end-of-life sails from a waste material, into a valuable resource.

The litter picking bags are hand-cut from spinnaker sails; a lightweight but highly durable form of sail.

Every single bag is unique in appearance, depending on the donor sail and what position it was cut from.

The litter picking bags can easily be rinsed out with your garden hose, ready to be used again on your next beach clean or litter pick.

Custom made to fit our Litter Picking Bag Hoops.

The bags are handmade in Cornwall using end-of-life spinnaker sails, typically made from Nylon due to being lightweight, durable and UV stable, and are stitched with a recycled cotton thread.

So far, we've recycled 105985kg of marine plastic and your purchase will help us to increase this even further.

FAQs

Our upcycled sail beach clean bags are handmade in the UK in Falmouth, Cornwall.

It didn’t make sense to us that the equipment used by individuals who take direct action against the plastic pollution crisis contained non-recyclable virgin plastic, and we heard the same from you, that single-use bin bags just didn't feel right!

We teamed up with a local maker, Rory McKellar, to utilise sailcloth's properties to create the ultimate reusable beach cleaning sack.

If sandy, muddy or exposed to saltwater, rinse clean with freshwater and hang to dry.

Store dry.

Repairs can be made by stitching or cloth tape.

Avoid dragging the bag across the floor

Absolutely! Contact us and we'll be able to arrange a collection of your end-of-life sail.

Please note, due to the varying thicknesses of sails, we can only accept spinnakers.

Additionally, we are part of the Clean Sailors Resail programme, to learn more about their drop-off points, visit their website.

We often do clean-ups in windy conditions where our bags are difficult to handle. These hoops are great for that!

Sturdy litter picking hoops

Love that these are recycled fishing nets. Bought for our community litter picking group Friends of Doddington Wood. Used the new hoops this morning on our monthly litter pick & the hoops are strong and sturdy. Recommended product and we will use in future in we need more litter picking equipment. Thank you :)

A little tricky to open and close, we were scared of breaking it if we had pulled too hard. However it is getting easier with more use.

Fantastic and helpful.

Before I brought this I was having trouble with the bags due to the wind. Once I got it I tried it out and it works brilliantly.

Circular whizz!

So excited to receive this! -Great price, brilliant practical product, should have bought one ages ago, love that it is made from recycled fishing net, I tended to hold it by the rim rather than the handle as it felt more comfortable and could keep it higher off the floor. Tested to oblivion on its first outing! Don't hesitate to get yourself one!

Handle design

A larger diameter handle would make it easier to hold. Also a larger diameter hole could be used to store a plastic picker bag in.

Bought two hoops for my litterpicking group and they seem very good. I have kept one and given one to a friend / volunteer in the group. Nice to see they are made from recycled ocean plastic and plan to buy some more from our community grant money

Well designed holder for the heavy duty rubbish bag that's proving its worth cleaning up all the crap thrown out of cars onto our local roads.

Great bit piece of kit to litter pick with my nephews. Saves having to keep the bag open by hand and gives a bigger target to drop litter in! Even better is that its made from retrieved fish netting from the ocean. Thanks!

This is strong and easy to clean but it is rather heavy compared with the ring- and- clip variety and my bag slipped off when the bag was about half full. I thought maybe I hadn’t clipped it properly but then it happened again.

Love that it’s made from recycled plastics. It makes garbage collection SO much easier

Needs a bitmore design, the sacks don’t stay on or fit as well as I would
Like.

Would have been five stars if it were not for the slightly tricky fitting on the recycled sail bag. May have just been me but otherwise a great product.

What a great idea for recycling old sails. I'm one litter pick in and so far so good. Five stars. Keep up the great work Waterhaul.

A no brainer

Very satisfying not to be putting waste into single use plastic.
Ordered several and they were all same colour. Might try and use one for my tall kitchen bin - all food scraps and anything smelly is sorted elsewhere

Makes life easier...

Good and tough, where local council bags aren''t; also a good fit in the bag hoop, again where council bags aren''t. Keep up the good work.

Consigliatissimo!🙂

Motivated by multiple impact

I'm a regular volunteer with our local litter picking group, Harlow Wombles, and the chance to multiply the impact of a positive action like litter picking by utilising recycled materials is a real motivator!

Very happy with the quality and feel of the products, speed of delivery and service as well as user friendly website all massive bonuses!

Picker, bag and hoop bundle.

Purchased the bundle and received the package within 10 days! In fact the box was in NZ within 5 days, it took the other 5 to get down to the 'Deep South'. Impressive.
I've just been on an urban bimble down here in Dunedin, New Zealand, I picked up about 10kg of litter with no issues.
Thanks for the gear, I'll spread the word and post pics on Socials with your products front and centre.

Litter picking bag hoop

Excellent idea - makes collecting litter much easier - but bag can disengage from hoop if litter shoved in too vigorously.
